SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFICIARIES URGED TO IMPROVE THEIR LIVELIHOODS

GOVERNMENT has advised social security programme beneficiaries to utilise the initiative to improve their Livelihoods.

Zambezi District Commissioner Simeon Machayi says once these resources are put to good use, they are meaningfully changing the lives of beneficiaries especially female headed households and the aged.

Mr Machayi notes that a lot of vulnerable people in the District have continued to benefit from these various programmes which he said have positively impacted on their Livelihoods.

ZANIS reports that the District Commissioner said this when a team from the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services paid a courtesy call on him in Zambezi on Wednesday.

“We are so happy as government that these social protection programmes that are being implemented by the Ministry of Community Development and Social services are changing people’s lives and we are seeing that yes there is a lot of difference in their lives before they were put on the programmes and after benefiting,” he said.

Mr Machayi said people in the District are happy with many government programmes being implemented that are making them live decent lives.

“As a person who interacts with the people and the beneficiaries of these social security programmes, I have seen how their lives have changed and how they are appreciating the government for their support,” Mr Machayi said.

Principal Planner at the Ministry of Community Development And Social Services Weka Banda said the Ministry government is implementing a lot of social security programmes that need sensitisation and documentation.

Ms Banda, who was Team leader said through interactions with beneficiaries a lot of success stories have been recorded on how their lives have changed.
