KAPUTA Town Council has approved 250 applications for bursaries under the 2025 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Skills Development Bursaries programme.
Prospective students have applied in various fields, including driving, power electrical, and carpentry, among others.
Kaputa Town Council Assistant Public Relations Officer Stella Shonga told the Zambia News and Information Services ZANIS that the local authority will spend over K4.1 million to sponsor students under the programme.
Ms Shonga said students that are sponsored under the fund will be enrolled in various skills and trades training centers in different parts of the country.
She added that 75 students from the September 2024 intake have been deferred to this year, adding that the local authority will spend over K1.1 million on them.
Ms Shonga further disclosed that 58 pupils will be sponsored under the boarding secondary school bursary at a cost of K174, 000.
She added that the local authority will also sponsor 406 returning pupils under the Boarding Secondary School bursary at a cost of over K1.2 million.
The Assistant Public Relations Officer added that the local authority has also approved 19 CDF loans at a cost of over K3.7 million.
Ms Shonga added that another K2.2 million will be given as empowerment grants to 55 applicants.
