KASEMPA District Administration has implored teachers in the district to emulate best practices from other successful districts to improve the performance of pupils in the district.
In an interview with ZANIS, Kasempa District Administrative Officer Francis Makanga expressed his concern with the performance of pupils in last year’s examinations.
“It is very sad to see our province lagging behind others in terms of examination results at Grade 7, Grade 9 and Grade 12, it is sad, because we have the same teachers, and we have the same curriculum, we have the same books, and we have the same government,” he added.
“For the past three years, I have noted we are not doing fine. We have seen the National analysis where Northwestern Provinces is number nine, second from last, even if we have beaten Western Province,” Mr Makanga said.
He reminded School Administrators that the grants which they receive are meant for enhancing academic performance of the pupils.
“That money is meant for free education, to provide education to the people and the children should pass,” Mr Makanga added.
Mr Makanga further called for more commitment and concentration from school administrators and teachers in the district.
“So what we are lacking is commitment and concentration on our work, so we ensure that people start concentrating. We ensure that we follow them up,” he added.
