THE Chongwe Municipal Council has paid 8,419 Cash for Work beneficiaries for the second cycle, after completing their 10-day contract.
Chongwe Municipal Council Assistant Public Relations Manager Cecilia Musonda says the Cash for Work programme has continued to improve livelihoods in the district.
Ms Musonda noted that the programme has also improved the levels of sanitation in Chongwe District.
She said the local authority has since engaged Data Entry Clerks to help with data collection and processing to ensure that the programme runs smoothly and is implemented efficiently.
Ms Musonda said the council has further pledged its commitment to promote inclusive participation among the most vulnerable groups and ensure that government opportunities are spread fairly.
She urged the eligible residents to take advantage of the Cash for Work initiative as it is part of a broader effort to improve livelihoods of the community, while enhancing public health and sanitation.
The Cash for Work Beneficiaries earn K60 per day for 10 days a month, offering a lifeline to families in need.
