President Hakainde Hichilema has arrived in Dar es salaam, Tanzania for an official visit.
President Hichilema arrived at Julius Nyerere International Airport at 13:55 hours Zambian time.
The Head of State is in Tanzania to attend the Africa Heads of State and Government Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit scheduled for tomorrow January 28, 2025, at Julius Nyerere International Conference Centre at the invitation of his counterpart, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
Later, Mr Hichilema is expected to hold bilateral talks with other leaders to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The Summit which aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal number of seven and the African Union Agenda 2063, will bring together African Heads of State and Government, high-ranking officials, senior policymakers, and development partners to advance efforts towards achieving universal access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy by 2030.
The Summit also aligns with Zambia’s commitment to enhancing energy access, diversifying the energy mix, and attracting investment to meet growing demand.
On the sidelines of the summit, President Hichilema is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with other African leaders to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest.
During the Summit, African Heads of State are also expected to outline their key commitment to deliver universal access to energy in their respective countries and their timeline for delivery.
The Mission 300 Africa Energy Summit is organised by the government of the United Republic of Tanzania, the World Bank Group, the African Development Bank, and other partners.
President Hichilema will return to Zambia immediately after the Summit.
