Northern Province Permanent Secretary Bernard Mpundu has warned that his office will not tolerate abuse of government vehicles by public service workers.

Mr Mpundu says government vehicles are procured at a high cost and should not be used for personal businesses.

He said this when he handed over vehicles to the Department of Social Welfare for Lunte and Lupososhi districts at provincial administration yesterday.

ZANIS reports that the Permanent Secretary said any report of breach of government transport regulations will result in withdrawal of affected vehicles.

Mr Mpundu also urged the Department of Social Welfare to ensure that the vehicles are serviced on time.

And Lunte District Assistant Social Welfare Officer Kalenga Nyirenda thanked the government for the provision of transport.

Lupososhi District Assistant Social Welfare Officer Charity Nakasote said the vehicle will enable the department to efficiently implement social protection programmes.
