The Ministry of Education has assured the nation that the authority is ready to implement the new school curriculum, scheduled to start on Monday, February 10th, 2025.
Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary for Education Services, Joel Kamoko, says that the orientation of teachers has been successful and the distribution of material is on schedule.
In a statement released to ZANIS, Mr Kamoko urged the nation to remain calm, stating that the government had the entire process under control.
He highlighted that the piloting of the new curriculum was done in accordance with established procedures, and the ministry was satisfied with the outcome.
Mr Kamoko also noted that the new curriculum had received praise from stakeholders, including the National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ), who commended the process during the ministry’s media engagement on January 9th, 2025.
Meanwhile, Zambia Education Publishing House Managing Director, Agnes Wilkins, assured that her organization is working tirelessly to ensure that all required materials for the new curriculum are distributed on time.
The ministry has allocated K150 million in the 2025 budget to implement the new national curriculum, demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the education sector.
And the new curriculum is scheduled to begin with early childhood, Grade 1, and Form 1 students.
