DIARRHEA BREAKS OUT IN KALULUSHI

Kalulushi District Commissioner Kelly Jibinga has called for a revamped keep Zambia clean and green in the area.

ZANIS reports that this follows a diarrhoea outbreak in the small mining town which had 6,000 confirmed cases by broadcast time.

Mr Jibinga says to address this, there is need for stakeholders to increase the keep Zambia clean and green campaign.

He said this during the district epidemic preparedness committee meeting held at Kalulushi General hospital, today.

He suggested that there is an urgent need to chlorinate all the shallow wells in the area to make the water safe for consumption.

“There is a need to increase access to safe and clean water in Kalulushi to reduce the high diarrhoea cases, ” he told the meeting.

The meeting learnt that the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit in the area (DMMU) will be distributing chlorine to clean their wells as one of the urgent solutions.

“Another possible solution which has always been there is the Keep Zambia Clean and Health Campaign program.” Said Mr Jibinga.

Me Jibinga directed heads of departments from various organizations to take advantage of the day to clean the district and reduce diarrhea cases in the district.

Meanwhile, Mr Jibinga has urged the various departments to tighten the participation in the Keep Zambia Clean and Health Campaign activities as that will make everyone clean their surroundings.
