Canadian High Commission Head of Office, Counsellor and Consul, Corry Van Gaal, says Northern Province has immense tourism development potential which if well harnessed has the potential to grow further.
Speaking when she toured Chishimba falls in Kasama, Ms Van Gaal expressed happiness with its natural beauty.
She has described the falls as a breathtaking sight, stating that the structure presents exciting opportunities for growth and collaboration.
Ms Van Gaal acknowledged the immense potential for tourism development in the Northern Province.
“I am thrilled to see the breathtaking beauty of Chishimba Falls. The region presents exciting opportunities for growth and collaboration, particularly in the tourism sector,” Ms Van Gaal said.
Kasama Mayor, Theresa Kolala, also highlighted the district’s rich tourism potential.
Ms Kolala stated that the visit of Ms Van Gaal to Chishimba Falls aims to explore avenues for cooperation between Canada and Zambia, focusing on tourism development and cultural exchange.
She has since urged Ms Van Gaal to return and explore the district’s unique attractions such as the Mwela Rock Paintings and the Ukusefya Pan’gwena Traditional Ceremony.
She noted that Chishimba Falls is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning scenery and rich cultural heritage.
“Her positive remarks about Chishimba Falls highlight the potential for increased tourism and economic growth in the region,” Ms Kolala said.
She added that Ms Van Gaal’s visit underscores the importance of collaboration in unlocking the region’s tourism potential.
Chishimba falls comprises three separate waterfalls along the Luombe River, with the main falls dropping an estimated 30 meters
