HEAVY RAINS LEAVES DESTRUCTION IN PARTS OF ISOKA

Heavy rains have left destruction of  over 70 hectares of different crops in Nyumba Village in Senior Chief Nsokolo’s Chiefdom in Senga Hill District.

Equally , about 88 households in  the area  have been affected by the disaster that occurred on January 31, 2025.

Confirming the ordeal in an interview with ZANIS in Senga Hilll, Chozi Ward Councillor Jackson Chama   has since appealed to the District Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit  (DMMU) to  assess the extent of damage.

Mr. Chama  lamented the heavy loss of hectares of maize, beans, and cassava following the storm.

And one of the affected, John Simbaya, has appealed to government to come to the aid of the affected families.

Mr,  Simbaya  explained that the natural calamity occured when farmers had applied both urea and D compound fertiliser, the situation he said puts farmers in an awkward situation.

Mr Simbaya has since called on government to help farmers with early maturing seeds and inputs to replant the fields since the area is likely to experience rains up to April.
