KABOMPO COMMUNITY ADVISED TO PARTICIPATE IN CASH FOR WORK

Kabompo District Commissioner Hubert Chinyanga has called on communities to actively participate in the cash for work government programme to fully benefit from the empowerment project.

Mr Chinyanga said the government is committed to ensuring that no one dies of hunger thus the existing programmes should be fully utilised by all citizens to benefit.

Zambia News and Information Services reports that Mr Chinyanga said this in Kabompo Yesterday when he addressed cash for work beneficiaries around the township during his routine monitoring of government developmental projects in the District.

“Government does not want anyone to die of hunger, that is why these programmes are being introduced so that all citizens’ benefit kindly own the programmes.” Mr Chinyanga said.

He stated that the government had disbursed equal funds to all 11 Districts in the Province and that all interested to participate should be involved to work and benefit from the funds as required.

He further stated that time for handouts was a thing of the past thus all people should work to earn money and improve their livelihoods.

Meanwhile, earlier when he toured the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) shed, the District Commissioner said community sales are currently going well as the change of payment mode from direct bank deposits to mobile payments.

He encouraged FRA offices to continue sensitising the community members to embrace the newly introduced payment system by registering with mobile money systems such as Lipila.

Meanwhile Kabompo FRA Manager Chesa Nkhata said the office had received overwhelming response as the payment system had proved to be fast.

Mr Nkhata said the shed still has enough stock of Maize for everyone and that about 16000 bags are still available.
