COSAFA, CAF Zambian Referee appointments excites soccer analyst

A soccer analyst has described as a motivation the appointment of Zambian referee Hillary Hambaba as the centre man of the African Games Ghana 2024 and Diana Chikotesha as the assistant VAR room at the CAF Champions league quarter finals.

Patson Kewewe said such top appointments will put Zambia on the world map as well as give credibility to the Zambian referees to officiate more at top match games.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS, kawewe said this will further motivate stakeholders to invest more in refereeing knowing that it has the potential to represent the country at the top level of football.

Kawewe was happy to note that despite the outcry in the local league that officiating has been bad, Zambia has managed to see some of its referees getting top appointments which is a plus for the country.

“This is something that we should all be proud of and we hope this won’t be the end of it all. In the future, we would love to see more referees getting such appointments.”

Two Zambian Referees have been appointed to officiate at the COSAFA and CAF confederation cup quarter- final matches to be played in March and April respectively.
