A female maid in Choma District in Southern Province has allegedly been murdered by unknown people.

Southern Province Police Commissioner  Auxensio Daka has confirmed and identified the deceased as Gracious Shakalobe aged 22 years of Mwapona compound. 

In an interview with ZANIS, Mr Daka said the incident occurred between 28/03/24 at 07:00 hours and 29/03/24 at 0630 hours in Mwapona area.

A parent to the deceased Dennis Mudenda aged 43 years of Mwapona compound reported that his stepdaughter was found dead behind the independence stadium in Choma.

Brief facts of the matter are that the deceased left home on Thursday 28/3/24 around 0700hrs for work at unknown place where she was working as a maid. 

However, after hours she did not return home until Friday when she was discovered dead. 

After receiving the report, police officers rushed to the scene of crime and found her dead body half naked along a foot path to the stadium. 

The footwear, together with her bra were also spotted about six meters away from where the body was laying. 

Thorough observation of the body of deceased revealed bleeding on both ears.

The body has since been deposited at Choma General Hospital mortuary, awaiting postmortem.
