Ngwerere Ward 22 Councillor Adrian Banda is elated with the increasing number of youths acquiring empowerment skills programmes in his ward.

Mr. Banda says the overwhelming response from the youth shows that the sensitizations on programmes being offered by the government are reaching the grassroots.

Speaking   in an interview with ZANIS Mr. Banda said government is providing free skills training for the youths through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

“ As a counselor, I am urging all the youths to apply for skills empowerment  programmes that will later in future enhance their  standard of living by starting their own businesses in the event they don’t get a jobs”, said Mr. Banda.

He further encouraged all beneficiaries to focus on their studies and later form cooperatives in order to access grants from the government.

Meanwhile, Dzithandizeni Trust Trade School Acting Administrator Obet Mwansa said that his institution is equal to the task of training youths in skills development.

Mr. Mwansa said the facility is looking forward to receiving more students in various programmes.

He has since called on the government to expedite the process of selection in order to match the school calendar and to avoid panic in lessons.
