KK extolled for establishing Kafue as industrial town

Kafue District Commissioner(DC) Maurice Hikapulwe says Kafue residents will always remember and honour the legacy of the first Republican President Kenneth Kaunda for opening many industries in the area.

Mr Hikapulwe noted that the late Dr. Kaunda worked hard in making Kafue the second industrial town from Ndola by opening a number of companies.

He cited Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia, Kafue Textiles of Zambia, Bata, Ginnery and the Breweries among other companies which were opened in Kafue.

“As Kafue District, we remember and honor KK for making Kafue the second Industrial Town in Zambia, the NCZ, Kafue Textiles of Zambia, Bata, Ginnery and Breweries are among the industries which KK opened in Kafue,” he said.

Mr Hikapulwe added that Dr. Kaunda should also be remembered as a great man who selflessly contributed to the liberalization and uniting of the country.

“We all know that Dr. Kaunda played a significant role which cannot be over emphasized but should be celebrated in love, peace and unity,’’ Mr. Hikapulwe said.

He added that the celebration of KK Day should not be politicized in any way as it is an opportunity to honor the great son of Zambia.

Mr Hikapulwe has called on Zambians to continue preserving and honoring Dr. Kaunda’s legacy through embracing unity and peace.
