Zambia U17 women team beats Uganda

The Zambia under 17 National Women’s Team has beaten Uganda 2 – 0 in the U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup Qualifiers played at the National Heroes Stadium.

An early goal from striker, Namute Chileshe in the 2nd minute of game saw the copper princesses claim an early lead which they held on till half time.

Earlier, Uganda had threatened in the opening 20 minutes of the match.

Half time ended 1-0 in favour of the home side despite Uganda making several attempts for a come back.

Uganda managed to surge late pressure on the Zambians, with a late consolation goal which was ruled out for a foul in the second half of play.

In the 70th minute, Ruth Mukoma doubled the lead from a well measured pass by Blessing Zulu setting the Copper princesses on a comfortable victory against Uganda.

Red Arrows’ Ricky Banda won the ABSA Life top scorer of the tournament walking away with K25,000.

The 2024 edition of the ABSA Cup has expanded to include 21 teams with 10 additional teams from the provinces.
