Zambia to host 2024 Digital Govt. Africa Summit in October this year

Smart Zambia National Coordinator Percy Chinyama has announced that Zambia will host the 2024 Digital Government Africa (DGA) Summit from 2nd to 4th October this year.

Mr Chinyama said the government is pleased with the number of achievements made during the previous DGA summit that was conducted in October last year.

The Smart Zambia National Coordinator said the summit is a platform that invites other African countries to collaborate with Zambia to develop the digital sector.

He noted that the digitalization journey is not a race but an opportunity for partners to work together and grow at the same pace.

Mr Chinyama said this when he signed two Memoranda of Understandings with Africa Brains and Visa International Service Association who have partnered with the government in the preparation of the Summit.

Mr Percy commended the duo’s support adding that the government will make sure this year’s summit will be more practical to contribute to economic growth, job creation and improve social services for citizens.

Meanwhile, Africa Brains Chief Executive Officer, John Glassey, applauded Zambia for their efforts in the adoption of digital technologies in public service delivery.

Mr Glassey said his organisation has worked in Zambia for two years and has the responsibility to attract investors to the country.

He added that the MOU is a testament of Africa Brains and Zambia’s partnership in the hosting of the 2024 GDA summit.

And Visa International Service Association Public Policy Director, Svyatoslav Senyuta, said the association will work with the government to strengthen the Zambian portal in the inclusion of online payment.

Mr Senynta, stated that Visa will create a secure and robust payment platform.

He said the association will also work closely with already existing service providers and payment platforms.
