Shipolopolo mid-fielder Chanda joins Orlando Pride

Zambia Women’s National Team midfielder Grace Chanda has joined United States National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) club Orlando Pride after a two-season spell at Madrid CFF in Spain.

Chanda has signed with the Orlando Pride through the 2025 season, with an optional extension for 2026.

She becomes the second player at Orlando Pride and the third Zambian to play in the NWSL, the United States’ top flight of women football.

Copper Queens’ striker Racheal Kundananji was the first Zambian player to pave the way  when she joined Bay FC in February in a record-transfer fee that made her the most expensive female player in the world.

According to the Football Association of Zambia’s  ( FAZ) Facebook page posting, Chanda says this is the most important step in her football career as she has always wanted to play in the NWSL.

Chanda said she hopes to adapt quickly so that she can help her team mates and the club achieve greatest things together.

“I am extremely excited to join Orlando. It is a great club, where I will be able to play alongside amazing players, like Marta and Barbra,” Chanda said.

She joins compatriot and Copper Queens captain Barbra Banda who is joint top scorer in the league with eight goals.

And Orlando Pride’s Vice President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Haley Carter, expressed confidence in Chanda’s ability to help the team achieve greater things.
