NAPSA DONATES TO VULNERABLE COMMUNITIES IN CHIPATA

National Pensions Scheme Authority (NAPSA) has donated assorted food stuffs and groceries to people living with HIV in Chipata.

NAPSA in partnership with the Young Happy Health and Safe ( YHHS)  identified beneficiaries of the item in Jere Lopo and Moneni villages in Paramount Chief Mpezeni’s area.

NAPSA Area Manager, Jessie Kombe, said the institution was commemorating World AIDS Day and the sixteen days activism against Gender Based Violence ( GBV) by making donations to communities it worked with.

Mr Kombe noted that NAPSA donated the food stuff to supplement the diet of those in need of food in the two areas.

He observed that YHHS was identified as a partner to distribute the items because it worked closely with the people who needed help from NAPSA.

“We are making this donation through partnership with the YHHS because this is the institution that works with these communities who need this support from us,” Mr Kombe said.

The German project, KNB Regional Project Officer, Yesaya Banda, said YHHS serviced different categories of individuals ranging from children with special needs, GBV survivors, teen mothers and elderly women keeping orphans and vulnerable children.

Reverend Banda said the aim of YHHS was to end child marriages and teen pregnancies so that girl children concentrated on attending school.

One of the beneficiaries, Lazarus Jere, expressed happiness for the donation which he said would go a long way in alleviating problems faced by disadvantaged people in the two villages.

Mr Jere said most of the items donated by NAPSA, were those which beneficiaries failed to buy on their own because they were expensive.

“You have brought us a lot of things which we have not been able to buy on our own because they are expensive. We are so happy about this, and we want to say to you that please continue helping us,” he said.
