Young mothers need education – Kasune  

-Central Province Minister Princess Kasune has urged teen mothers who dropped out of school, to go back to after delivery, for them to have a bright future.

Ms Kasune underscored the importance of education in improving one’s socio economic standing saying it is a key to development.

She said when she visited Mukilashi health center maternity ward in Chibombo District that education was important for a girl child.

Ms Kasune also observed that health workers have a role to play in encouraging young mothers to go back to school, says having a child was not the end of a girl’s life but the beginning.

“I was also a young mother and I never gave up on my dream, you too can make it,” she said 

And 18 years old first time mother, Catherine Mwape who suffered financial challenges after dropping out of school following her pregnancy, said she would love to go back to school.

Ms Mwape thanked health care practitioners at Mukilashi health center for the support given to her during her admission to the facility.

She also thanked government and Fountain of Life Africa for the first ever health center in Mukilashi that caters to over 9000 residents.

“I want to thank the government and their partners, Fountain of Life Africa, for this health center, I was able to deliver my baby within Mukilashi as we have a health facility in this area,” she said.
