K 10. 6 million of CDF so far spent in  Lavushimanda.

Close to 11 community projects costing over K10.6 million under construction using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) in the Mfuwe Constituency of Lavushimanda District are nearing completion.

The 11 projects, including school and health infrastructure, have reached 95 percent completion and will be commissioned soon.

This came to light when the CDF District Monitoring Team, led by Lavushimanda District Commissioner Terris Kunda and the Council Secretary Dominic Makisa inspected the projects across six wards in Chiundaponde and Mpumba chiefdoms.

The projects among others monitored in Lupembashi ward include the construction of a one by three classroom block at Makanga Primary costing over K1 million and two staff houses at Mwendachabe Rural Health costing K700,000, funded under 2022 CDF but the works were extended to 2023 after a variation.

Also nearing completion in Lulimala Ward of Chiundaponde Chiefdom is the construction of two staff houses at a cost of over K700,000 at Chiundaponde Primary School.

In Lukulu Ward of Chief Chiundaponde, the monitoring  team also inspected a maternity annex at Mwelushi Rural health center which is being undertaken at a cost of K820, 000.

Lavushimanda District Council Director of Engineering, Humphrey Makabe in an interview with ZANIS said that the monitored projects, apart from Chief Chiundaponde’s palace, whose works are at 10 percent completion, are on course.

“All these community projects were funded under 2023 CDF except for two staff houses at Mwendachabe rural health post which was funded in 2022 but we did a variation hence the extension of its completion period.

“  I may confirm that the contractors will this June hand over the projects to the government,” he said.

And Lavushimanda Town Council Secretary, Dominic Makisa told ZANIS that the Local Authority was working hard to ensure quality work was delivered to all community projects under CDF in the area.

Mr Makisa mentioned that all the community projects under 2023 CDF were on course and would be ready for handover to the Government soon.

“The District monitoring task force is going round the district to monitor progress of works on the projects earmarked for handover and we are on course as the Local Authority with regards to the CDF projects across the district,” he said.

Lavushimanda District Commissioner, Terris Kunda observed that there was good progress on the works on all monitored CDF community projects.

He explained that the District Taskforce is monitoring the projects so that any errors discovered on any project may be amended before handing them over to the Government.

The District Commissioner said President Hakainde Hichilema was delivering the much-needed development to all Zambians as evidenced by the CDF projects dotted around the district as promised to the people of Zambia.

” So far I may say the works are progressing well on these projects,” he said.

Meanwhile, Chief Mpumba has praised President Hakainde Hichilema for delivering CDF equally to all constituencies in Zambia and urged the head of state to continue working hard to deliver development to all parts of Zambia.

“President Hakainde Hichilema has ensured that CDF reaches everyone in Zambia including my chiefdom so this means unity for me and may he continue working hard in uniting Zambia through projects such those under CDF which are everywhere “, he said.
