Hamasaka reports Petauke MP to police for defamation  

State House Chief Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka has reported Petauke Member of Parliament Emmanuel Banda to the police for Criminal defamation.

Mr Hamasaka in his complaint letter to Inspector General of police Graphel Musamba says the continued reports and letters being circulated, linking him to the alleged abduction of Mr. Banda amount to serious defamation of his character which goes beyond civil libel.

Mr Hamasaka expressed shock over the allegations explaining that the person he is being accused of abducting has never met him in person adding that the two also have no known shared relationship.

In denying the allegations of abduction, Mr. Hamasaka says the publications and allegations are a serious dent on his personal character and pose a serious threat to his livelihood and personal safety.

Mr Hamasaka further said that in view of the allegations he fears for his family as his accusers are not ordinary people but persons who have a public following who can take matters in their own hands and decide to harm them.

Mr. Hamasaka has since pleaded with the police to prosecute Mr. Banda so that he is granted an opportunity to avail the nation with whatever evidence linking him to the alleged abduction.

Mr. Hamasaka is being accused alongside Presidential Political Advisor Levy Ngoma and United Party for National Development UPND National Deputy Youth Chairman Trevor Mwiinde.

ZANIS reports that Mr. Banda is alleged to have been abducted on the 2nd  of June 2024 before being found in Kafue two days later.
