Govt. commends the U.N

Copperbelt Province Permanent Secretary Augustine Kasongo has commended the United Nations in its commitments in the actualisation of the summit of the future consultative meetings.

Mr. Kasongo notes that the U.N has since continued to support all processes and activities leading to the summit as it recognizes the urgent need to address both current and emerging global challenges.

The Permanent Secretary , who was speaking in Ndola at Protea Hotel,  noted that the consultations of state and non-state actors on the summit of the future aims at producing an action driven inter-government negotiation pact for the future through the 2023 sustainable Development Goal (SDGs).

He disclosed that the United Nations System will therefore play an important role in fostering domestic initiatives that empowers youths, private sectors and civil society organizations.

The summit of the future is an initiative born from the declaration of 75th anniversary of the United Nations where the UN General Assembly passed a resolution in 2021 to hold the summit in September 2024.
