Chasefu targets to vaccinate over 27, 000 children

Chasefu District Health Office says it aims to vaccinate over 27 thousand children in the district during the child health week.

District Health Information Officer, Pendarvis Chinsoto highlighted that all children under the age of five will be offered Polio vaccination, Vitamin A, Deworming and Nutrition assessment among other services.

Mr Chinsoto said this when he addressed stakeholders during the Epidemic Preparedness Meeting in Chasefu.

He noted that vaccines are important in protecting children from potential life-threatening diseases and ensure that they are healthy.

Mr Chinsoto also called on parents and guardians to let go of common misconceptions surrounding vaccines and consult health care providers for information regarding childhood immunisation.

“By ensuring that your child receives all recommended vaccines, you are not only protecting their health but also contributing to the overall public health of our community,” he said.

And Chasefu District Commissioner, Jimmy Phiri, underscored the collective responsibility that parents and health workers have in safeguarding the health of children in the community.

“Let us all do our part in ensuring that every child in the district receives the protection they need through timely vaccination,” he said.

Meanwhile, Luwerezi Ward Councilor, Chilibwe Gondwe, encouraged parents to heed the advice of health professionals and prioritise their children’s health by getting them vaccinated.
