CHINSALI DISTRICT HOSPITAL CALLS FOR UPGRADING OF ITS LABOUR WARD

Chinsali District Hospital management has appealed to government to consider upgrading the labour ward at the facility.

Senior nursing officer Patrick Mwiya, in charge of Maternal and Child Health at Chinsali District Hospital, says the district hospital needs upgrading as it currently lacks modern equipment and needs extensive renovations.

Mr Mwiya said this when Chinsali Mayor Lucy Mukuka donated baby humpers to six Christmas babies, yesterday.

“As you can see Madam Mayor, our labour ward needs modern equipment and also renovations so that it can be up to standard,” he said.

The six infants first saw the light between midnight and 12:30 hours in various health facilities in the district.

During her tour at  Chinsali district hospital and Nambuluma Police Clinic maternity annexes, Ms Mukuka  congratulated the mothers for safe delivery.

As she distributed the baby hampers to the mothers and drinks to expecting women in maternity wards, the mayor said that the gesture was an indicator that every child in Chinsali has access to the best possible start in life.

“As leaders, we recognize the importance of supporting our families and children, and we are dedicated to creating a bright future for all,” she said.

And one of the mothers who gave birth to a baby boy at Nambuluma Police post, appreciated the Mayor for the gesture.

Memory Sangalale said that the baby hamper will go a long way in supplementing what she had already prepared.
