Tayali commends ZESCO’s action at NTH

Government has commended the Fire Services department and the Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) engineers for preventing a likely catastrophe at the Ndola Teaching Hospital ( NTH ) .

Minister of Transport and Logistics, Frank Tayali says he  appreciates the quick movement by the two institutions by serving both lives and

infrastructure.

Mr. Tayali,  who is  also Member of Parliament for Ndola Central where the Hospital is , said to have rushed to the hospital to after having been informed of the situation which is reported to have started in the early hours of the morning at around 05:00 hours.

“ I am happy to note that the power failure at the hospital had nothing to do with the current load management that ZESCO is doing countrywide but that had to do with the failure of a cable which has outlived its capacity owing to age, “ he said.

The minister has since advised the technical staff at the hospital to employ a policy on preventive measures in the Kaizen concept which helps to prevent unexpected eventualities.

He also commended Ndola Teaching Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent Dr. Justor Banda  for alerting the authorities on time.

The minister made the commendation when the Ndola Teaching Hospital experienced power outage due to failure on high power voltage cables.

This according to a statement made available to ZANIS by Ministry of Transport and Logistics Public Relations Officer Ndubi Mvula
