KCC ALLOCATES K1.4 MILLION FOR CONSTRUCTION OF CLASSROOMS IN THE AREA

The Kabwe Municipal Council has allocated K1.4 million towards the completion of educational infrastructure at two schools in Kabwe Central Constituency.

Kabwe Municipal Council Director of Planning Chansa Mwila says the funds will be used to complete one by three classroom blocks at St. Mary’s Combined School in Justine Kabwe Ward and Jasmine Secondary School in Luangwa Ward.

Mr Mwila said in an interview with ZANIS that the projects will be financed using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

“The completion of a one by three classroom block at St. Mary’s Combined School will cost K811, 500.

The one at Jasmine Secondary School will gobble K600, 000,” Mr Mwila said.

Part of the funds, which have been allocated to Jasmine Secondary School, will be used to complete the remaining works on the wall fence.

Mr Mwila said the local authority is determined to complete all stalled developmental projects in the education sector in the district.

He said government is committed to the completion of all stalled developmental projects and construction of more schools using the expanded CDF.

Mr Mwila said the demand for education in the district has increased following the implementation of the free education policy.

He said pupils, who dropped out of school due to sponsorship challenges, are now back in school.

He stated that the local authority has since placed high premium on the completion of pending educational developmental projects to address the challenge of learner spaces that has come about because of the free education policy.
