Government Chief Whip Stafford Mulusa has called upon opposition leaders to refrain from disseminating false information to the public in a bid to salvage their political careers.
Mr Mulusa’s call for responsible and truthful communication comes at a time when the country is seeking to promote unity and cooperation among its leaders.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka today, Mr Mulusa hopes to foster a more constructive and respectful political environment in the country.
“As the Fourth Session of the Thirteenth National Assembly resumes tomorrow at 14:30 hours, I am urging Members of Parliament to actively represent their constituency’s interest, participate in debates, propose legislation, and engage with their communities, Mr Mulusa added.
Mr Mulusa reminded Members of Parliament to conduct themselves with dignity, respect, and integrity while prioritising national interest over partisan or personal gain.
Meanwhile, the Government Chief whip also congratulated the winners of the Pambashe and Petauke Constituency Parliamentary by-elections and welcomed the newly elected Members of Parliament to the house.
He reminded them that their primary responsibility is to serve the people who elected them.
Mr Mulusa emphasised the importance of peaceful and orderly elections, citing the recent by-elections as a testament to the strength of Zambia’s democracy.
