Government has officially handed over a brand-new 1×3 classroom block at Kafwasonyi Primary School in Mangango Constituency, marking a significant milestone in the region’s educational infrastructure.
This development is as a result of the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF), with a total investment of K839,000.
This new classroom block is expected to enhance the learning environment for learners and alleviate the pressure on existing facilities.
ZANIS reports that speaking at the handover ceremony, Mangango Member of Parliament, Luhamba Mwene stated that the completion of the project demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving education in the constituency.
This latest handover at Kafwasonyi Primary School is a testament to the government’s efforts to provide quality education and stimulate community growth through targeted investments.
Mr Mwene revealed that Kafwasonyi classroom block was one of the many similar initiatives that had been undertaken in the constituency.
He said the CDF has also facilitated various other projects, including healthcare infrastructure development and procurement of educational materials.
Mwamdi Director of Human Resources, Aison Simwada emphasised the importance of utilising the newly installed solar power for studying, rather than letting parents charge their phones.
Mr Simwanda also stressed that the government invested heavily in the infrastructure, saying it is therefore crucial for the community to take care of the new structure.
“This power is not for community members or parents to be charging their phones, it is for pupils to study, especially those in examination classes. Please let’s take advantage and utilise the facility accordingly, ” he said.
Mr Simwanda’s sentiment was echoed by Area Induna, Lisulo Lisulo, who expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament for driving developmental initiatives in the constituency.
The traditional leader stated that the impact of the new infrastructure is significant, as children in the area will no longer have to travel long distances to access education.
Likonge Mwanaumo, representative of Kaoma District Education Board Secretary, noted that with the additional classroom space, pupils will no longer be sent home during examinations, ensuring uninterrupted learning.
Mr Mwanaumo pledged to maintain the infrastructure through regular inspections, ensuring the community’s investment is protected.
In the afternoon, the Member of Parliament sponsored a football tournament and the winning team received a prize of K15,000.
Kashibi Namangolwa, a Kafwasonyi community member was thrilled with the Member of Parliament’s initiative, praising it as the best independence gift ever.
“We are happy because a Member of Parliament has even slaughtered an animal for us on independence or during handovers, we pray that such initiatives will continue, come 2026 we will still vote for him,” Ms Namangolwa said.
