VICE President Mutale Nalumango has urged Zambians to embrace the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as the world transforms towards the digital space.

Mrs Nalumango stated that the beauty of the revolution that is coming with AI is widely being used in the health, commerce, agriculture among other sectors.

The Vice President was speaking at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, upon arrival from China where she attended the 14th Wuzhen 2024 Summit, where Zambia was attending for the first time and also represented Africa.

She noted that the realisation that every country needs to get involved in the digital transformation through inclusion, collaboration and cooperation.

ZANIS reports that Mrs Nalumango said that China being the leading country in digital transformation has expressed interest to support Zambia and other countries that are willing to engage in the field of AI.

“We are happy that we attended the summit and the President of China, Xi Jinping, was very clear in his interest to embrace any nation that is willing to engage in this field of AI,” Mrs Nalumamgo said.

Mrs Nalumango added that on the sidelines of the summit, she engaged with Alibaba Group of Companies that committed to help train Zambia in AI.

The Vice President further stated that Zambia expressed interest for the company to have a sub-region.

She noted that it being an e-commerce centric company, the support from the company will be a game changer for Zambians

The Vice President was in China where she attended the World Internet Conference, Wuzhen 2024 Summit, whose discussion was focused on digital space.
