THE United Party for National Development (UPND) in Luwingu District has elected new office bearers for the party in the district.
The party has elected Oswald Felise as New District Chairperson, replacing Francis Mulenga, who has been appointed as a provincial trustee.
The election of new office bearers follows the leadership wrangle that had rocked the party in the recent months, forcing the provincial leadership to quickly conduct fresh elections.
Other members elected include Patrick Nkandu, who retained his position as District Vice Chairperson, George Mutati, as District Secretary, and Annie Chikwanda, who has been elected as District Vice Secretary.
Others are Abraham Chipoya, who is the District Treasurer, Caroline Kabo as District Chairlady, Peggy Nawila was elected as District Vice Chairperson while Justin Chiluba was voted as District Information and Publicity Chairman.
Kelvin Mutale was voted as District Youth Chairperson, replacing Godfrey Maengo, and Matthews Mpundu was voted in as the new District Vice Youth Chairperson.
And newly elected District Chairperson Oswald Felise said in a statement to ZANIS that the elections were held yesterday at Luwingu Skills Training Centre ant the new office bearers started their work yesterday.
“We wish to inform your office and the party at large that resulting from the resolutions made in the district concerning district leadership, elections have been held and results prove that will be affected from November 28th, 2024,” read the letter in parts.
Mr. Felise said the party district election was witnessed by UPND Northern Province Chairperson Mr. Nathan Ilunga and other senior provincial party members.
