COUNCILS IN NORTH WESTERN PROVINCE ADVISED ON CDF PROJECTS

NORTH Western Province Minister Robert Lihefu has urged councils in the province to double their efforts in the Implementation of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects.

Mr Lihefu notes that implementation of projects requires close monitoring as it helps to monitor progress and use of resources.

He has urged councils to keep detailed reports of the projects being implemented in their areas.

“We can only know what you are doing if you give us detailed reports of the projects, that way people will be able to see your work and appreciate government efforts,” he said.

He said this during the Provincial Development Coordinating Committee Meeting (PDCC) held in Solwezi.

Mr Lihefu said CDF is impacting a lot on people’s lives and stressed the need for councils to work closely with stakeholders in the implementation of the projects.

“People are eager to see what projects are being implemented, let the projects show what you are doing,” he echoed.

ZANIS reports that Mr Lihefu has further stressed the need for councils to keep detailed records of the projects and update the public.

“People will only appreciate your efforts if they are well updated about the projects you are implementing in your districts,” he noted.

The Minister disclosed that he will soon embark on monitoring CDF projects and has warned that councils who will be found wanting will not be spared.

And Solwezi Pastors Fellowship General Secretary Apostle Obrian Mayambu said the decision by the Minister to monitor CDF projects is timely.

The Clergy expressed concern over the slow pace at which the projects are being implemented in the province.

“It is sad that despite the government working hard to ensure that services are brought closer to the people through the implementation of various projects under CDF, some councils are not making an effort to ensure that projects are completed within stipulated time frames,” he noted.

The clergy has also advised the provincial administration to form independent monitoring teams to closely monitor projects that are being implemented in the province.

He has pledged the church’s commitment to working with the government in fostering development in the province and national at large.
