Acting Chinsali District Commissioner Brenda Silwembe has called on civil servants to work together in order to facilitate meaningful development in the district.
Speaking during the 4th quarter District Development Coordinating Committee (DDCC) meeting held at the Civic Center today, Ms Silwembe said that DDCCs are important as they play an important role in driving the district’s developmental agenda.
Ms Silwembe added that DDCC also promotes teamwork adding that an individual or department cannot execute programmes alone as there is need for departments to collaborate.
She explained that meaningful engagements and shared knowledge that has led to the recording of great milestones in the developmental agenda has been done through the DDCC platform.
“Through this platform, we have facilitated meaningful engagements and shared knowledge that upholds the development of the district,” she said.
And in the same meeting, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) led the house into a sensitisation session to educate heads of various government departments and non-governmental departments on the different types of corruption and their repercussions.
ACC Muchinga Province Public Education Officer Patrick Siyumbelo said that the commission had deemed it necessary to educate Heads of Departments on the types of corruption as it was discovered that most people were ignorant about certain offences that they had been charged with, once found wanting.
He said that most civil servants would plead ignorant when a matter is tabled adding that unfortunately with the law, ignorance is no defense.
Mr Siyumbelo has since urged government workers and members of the public to report any form of corruption to the commission or relevant authorities in order to foster meaningful corruption-free development in the district.
