PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has directed Chief Justice Mumba Malila to ensure Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is embodied in the Zambian judicial system.

President Hichilema has noted that the ADR system is cardinal in disposing off cases expeditiously.

Mr Hichilema has observed that the backlog of cases the judiciary is faced with can only be resolved using the ADR model where some of the cases can be resolved outside court.

The Head of State was speaking when Ugandan Chief Justice, Alfonse Owing-Dollo accompanied by   Zambian Chief Justice Mumba Malila paid a courtesy call on him at State House.

Justice Owing-Dallo said ADR though a new phenomenon allows cases to be disposed of quickly as opposed to resolving in courts.

And Justice Malila said he decided to invitehis Ugandan counterpart due to their advancement in their judiciary.
