Mpulungu District Commissioner Gehard Sikazwe has called on the local authority to intensify the monitoring of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) loan and grant beneficiaries.
Mr Sikazwe said it is disheartening that many people who benefitted from the funds, especially grants, have been sharing the money and not making a profit.
Speaking during the launch of the Voices of Change project in Mpulungu, Mr Sikazwe explained that government is implementing these projects to help uplift the living conditions of people.
He said a number of youth and women groups who have benefitted from the funds, have not utilized the funds for their intended purpose.
Mr Sikazwe has since encouraged the local authority to regularly visit groups that have been receiving CDF empowerment funds to ensure beneficiaries put the money to good use.
He explained that some groups lack knowledge on how to move forward with their proposed project and hence need guidance.
Mr Sikazwe said it will be gratifying if a number of women and youths become self-reliant and sustainable through the proper implementation of the CDF grant and loans.
