The Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit (DMMU) has provided relief food and assorted chemicals to be distributed to the Ministry of Health and Education in Chavuma District of Northwestern Province.

Speaking during a District Disaster Committee Meeting (DDCM) sitting today, District Commissioner Geoffrey Kasonda tasked the benefiting minorities to use the items for intended purpose.

Mr Kasonde thanked DMMU for continued support on various social programmes that uplift the lives of people in the district.

Mr Kasonda who is also the Committee Chairperson revealed that the items include cooking oil, soaps, Nyama Soya, a sprayer, Granular chlorine, disinfectants among others.

“We are very thankful for the government, I just want to thank the president Mr. Hakainde Hichilema for considering Chavuma as a District for supporting it with the foodstuff, I want to send this message to heads of departments to ensure that they know that we have received these items and I want to urge them to ensure that they use the items for the intended purpose,” he said.
