Ministry of Technology and Science says Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training (TEVET) bursaries will only be awarded to students registered in TEVET programmes.
Minister of Technology and Science, Felix Mutati said this is in order to give an opportunity to those who missed out on Constituency Development Funds (CDF) bursaries.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, Mr Mutati also announced that the ministry has opened the online application system for bursaries and deadline for applications is February 9th, 2025.
He urged institutions to advertise programmes on time to enable students to apply for bursary skills.
Mr Mutati stated that bursaries are designed to support vulnerable students pursuing TEVET training, with the aim of promoting skills development and entrepreneurship in Zambia.
Meanwhile, Mr Mutati disclosed that the enrollment of TEVET students has increased from 34, 000 in 2021, to over 96,000 in 2024.
He said government is committed to give learning opportunities to students willing to take up development skills.
He also outlined specific criteria for the bursary awards, including a focus on supporting students from rural areas.
