MINISTRY OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT RECEIVES AMBULANCES

THE Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has received 18 more ambulances procured under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

This is the second consignment, making the total number received so far to 29 out of the 156 Ambulances meant for each Constituency in the country.

Permanent Secretary in Charge of Technical Services in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, Nicholas Phiri confirmed this when he officially received the Ambulances at the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency warehouse in Lusaka on Wednesday.

Mr Phiri explained that the Ministry initially anticipated to receive 36 ambulances in the second batch, adding that this was not achieved due to some challenges in one of the countries of transit.

He has however assured that the remaining 18 will be delivered by mid February, this year, adding that 6 out of these are already at the Port in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, while 12 are also in transit.

Mr Phiri has further assured that all the 156 Ambulances will be delivered by March this year, as the flow of batches is steady.

He has stated that the Ministry will however start arrangements for distribution of the Ambulances received so far in the next two weeks, adding that priority will be given to Constituencies that are more prone to disease outbreaks.
